A piece of fabric dipped in a porcelain clay after firing process becomes a hyper realistic solid copy of what previously was a textile piece. Coming from Łódź, this work is my personal take on the city’s past. Having been developed during the industrial revolution, Łódź experienced prosperity and growth, becoming one of the biggest textile centres in Eastern Europe in the XIX century and a sudden decline with the collapse of the Soviet Union. Mostly women were hired in the factories, struggling in close to no labour rights. Now the city of Łódź glamorizes its industrial past, omitting the often very difficult work conditions.
